Help reduce traffic on Jump Start Residence Move-in Day
August 17, 2026
Each year, UBC Vancouver welcomes thousands of new students as they move into their assigned on-campus residence the week before classes begin.
Similar to last year, Move-in Day for students participating in the Jump Start orientation program will take place on Tuesday, September 1. Students not participating in Jump Start move in on Saturday, September 5.
To best support our new students and reduce traffic on the UBC Vancouver campus on September 1, faculty and staff are encouraged to adjust commute times, use public transportation where feasible or work with their supervisor on alternative arrangements for the day.
Please note that the Rose Garden Parkade and Thunderbird Parkade will be reserved for Move-in Day vehicle traffic on September 1.
The West Parkade is recommended for faculty and staff who normally park in the Rose Garden Parkade.
Due to construction on Lower Mall, the West Parkade can be accessed from the south by turning from NW Marine Drive onto Oberlander Lane, then left onto Lower Mall.
The Health Sciences Parkade is recommended for faculty and staff who normally park in the Thunderbird Parkade.
For additional options, please visit the UBC Parking website.
Move-in Day is a special time for the university, and it always brings lots of positive energy. Thank you in advance for helping reduce traffic so we can ensure our new students enjoy a smooth and welcoming move-in experience.
