I am pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the annual Faculty Research Awards. These awards acknowledge research excellence across all disciplines and at different career stages at UBC.
This year we are launching three additional new awards, which will further expand the range of research achievements and recipients being recognized:
- The Killam Emerging Faculty Research Fellowship: recognizing faculty members at the earliest stages of their careers who are poised for substantial international impact
- The Engaged Research Award: recognizing faculty members who are committed to engaged research and knowledge exchange with non-academic communities
- The Innovation Award: recognizing individuals who demonstrate a strong commitment to creating societal and economic value through sponsored research, technology transfer, and entrepreneurial activities
Submission process for 2026:
- Submit an Expression of Intent by 11:59 pm on September 15 (optional, and not requested for the Killam Accelerator Research Fellowships)
- Final submissions for all awards must be made online by 11:59 pm on November 16
Learn more about each award and the submission processes online.
Recognition at the university level can also lead to increased opportunities at the national and international level. I strongly encourage you to consider equity, diversity and inclusion principles in your nominations.
If you have questions about the nomination process, contact the Office of Research Prizes and Awards.
