March 4, 2026

I am pleased to announce that Shannon Dunn has been appointed as the new Associate Vice-President, Student Housing and Community Services (SHCS), effective May 4, 2026.

As the Associate Vice-President, SHCS, Shannon will provide leadership, vision and direction to the revenue-generating functions within the portfolio across both UBC Okanagan and UBC Vancouver campuses, and will oversee the portfolio’s operating budget as well as the renewal and renovation of over 4.5 million square feet of buildings on more than 85 acres of land.

Shannon began her time at UBCO in 2005 as Director of Housing and Conferences and has served as Director of Business Operations within SHCS since 2014. Under her leadership, the unit has grown in annual revenue; student housing capacity has expanded by almost 1,800 beds; Food Services and Child Care have transitioned to in-house service models; and Parking Services revenue has more than doubled. Shannon is also a past recipient of a President’s Service Award for Excellence, previously served as a staff representative for UBC Okanagan on the UBC Board of Governors, currently serves on the UBC Pension Board and is a member of the National Association of College Auxiliary Services.

I would like to thank the search committee for their participation in this process and express my sincere thanks to Brian Heathcote, who is serving as the interim AVP, SHCS, until Shannon’s arrival in May.

Please join me in congratulating Shannon and welcoming her to UBC Vancouver.
