Describe what you do at UBC in 10 words or less:
Connecting job seekers with meaningful career opportunities at UBC.
Tell us about the team you work with - what do they do?
Think of UBC as a big, busy city — and the Vice-President, Finance and Operations (VPFO) team is like the city's engine room. We manage the power (energy and water services), keep the buildings standing and running (building operations and asset management), handle the money (treasury and comptroller), and plan for the future, so that students, faculty, and staff can thrive.
What three words would others use to describe you?
Resilient. Curious. Rooted. (Resilient in the face of change, always learning and growing, and proudly grounded as an immigrant from Mongolia.)
What do you do regularly to invest in your mental and/or physical health?
To invest in my mental and physical health, I spend quality time with my family — I'm a proud dad of three beautiful kids, and being with them helps me recharge and stay grounded. For physical health, I stay lean by swimming, doing regular exercises, and lately, just enjoying watching sports to unwind.
Tell us about the Mongolian community here at UBC.
The Mongolian community at UBC may be small in number, but we’re strong in spirit and proud of our roots. We support each other like family and love sharing our culture — from traditional food and music to stories of the vast steppes of Mongolia. It’s always special to meet a fellow Mongolian on campus, and we’re excited to see our community slowly growing.
