Announcing the new Chief Student Health Officer

Noorjean Hassam has been appointed as the new Chief Student Health Officer (CSHO) and will join UBC on May 10. As the CSHO, Noorjean will help drive UBC's student health and wellbeing services and programming, and strengthen the university's health-related partnerships to continue to support our students. 
  
Noorjean has been serving as the Chief Operating Officer of the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) since 2014, prior to which she was Regional Director for BC Cancer. Over her career, she has held several healthcare leadership roles in Canada and the United States where she led the advancement of strategic priorities and initiatives and championed cultural safety, Anti-racism, and reconciliation work in various healthcare settings.

A total of 136 teams took part at UBC Vancouver while UBC Okanagan had its biggest Sports Day yet with 270 participants. The fun event was made possible with the support of a dedicated group of staff and volunteers who made this amazing day possible.

    Register for the New to UBC Connections Program - UBC Vancouver

    The New to UBC Connections Program is open to faculty and staff in Vancouver in their first year of employment who wish to meet people from outside their faculty or department.The program was piloted successfully in November 2023 and has received a positive response from new faculty and staff.Participants will be matched in groups of three-four and will meet every four to eight weeks to participate in activities or events as a group, based on shared areas of interest.

    UBC’s amended Conflict of Interest Policy (SC3)

    On March 27, the Board of Governors approved amendments to UBC’s Conflict of Interest (COI) Policy (SC3) and its associated Procedures, effective as of April 2. The policy was amended to fully reflect the annual COI reporting requirements for UBC staff members, as well as address various best practices that have emerged since the last revision.A copy of the approved Conflict of Interest Policy and its associated Procedures is available on the University Counsel website.
