More than 40 projects supported by the 2023/24 StEAR Enhancement Fund

41 community-led projects have received $294,385 in funding across UBC Vancouver and UBC Okanagan, as part of the Strategic Equity and Anti-Racism (StEAR) Enhancement Fund. These projects cover a broad range of topics:

  • Racial equity 
  • Disability equity 
  • Gender and 2SLGTBQIA+ equity 
  • Intersectionality

The StEAR Fund was launched last fall to help support UBC's ongoing commitment to advancing equity and anti-racism across the university. Open to students, faculty and staff, 118 applications were submitted as part of the inaugural call for submissions.

    UBC’s amended Conflict of Interest Policy (SC3)

    On March 27, the Board of Governors approved amendments to UBC’s Conflict of Interest (COI) Policy (SC3) and its associated Procedures, effective as of April 2. The policy was amended to fully reflect the annual COI reporting requirements for UBC staff members, as well as address various best practices that have emerged since the last revision.A copy of the approved Conflict of Interest Policy and its associated Procedures is available on the University Counsel website.

    Centre for Workplace Accessibility seeking input on new disability inclusion course

    Faculty and staff who self-identify as an individual with a disability, a disabled person, or as having a chronic health condition are asked to consider completing an anonymous 5-minute survey to help develop a course on disability inclusion.The Centre for Workplace Accessibility is creating the disability inclusion course and is seeking feedback from disabled employees by May 13.Learn more
