As the days get longer and gardeners plan their spring planting, research from UBC offers some good news—small, simple changes to urban green spaces can make a big difference for pollinators. The study found that reducing lawn mowing and creating pollinator meadows—think of them as ‘parks for bugs’—significantly boosts pollinator diversity, creating healthier and more resilient ecosystems.Read more

UBC Community Engagement, in collaboration with the Office of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation, is proud to announce the 2024-25 recipients of the Community-University Engagement Support (CUES) Fund.This year, a total of $727,014 was awarded to 30 outstanding projects, with grants of up to $25,000 each. These partnerships—spanning urban, rural, and Indigenous communities across the province—are designed to support community-led initiatives while advancing collaborative research, teaching, and learning.
