UBC Vancouver – PhD CoLab Pilot advances faculty-student research and collaboration

The university’s PhD CoLab Pilot program was launched last fall to encourage faculty-student collaboration to devise innovative solutions for complex questions on various topics. It is aimed at giving PhD scholars at UBC the necessary support to blend their insights, methodologies and perspectives, in collaboration with faculty members and external partners, to create new understandings and approaches. 

This year, a combined total of nearly $350,000 has been awarded to five teams. The program received more than 60 applications from across 40 academic units at UBC.

A total of 136 teams took part at UBC Vancouver while UBC Okanagan had its biggest Sports Day yet with 270 participants. The fun event was made possible with the support of a dedicated group of staff and volunteers who made this amazing day possible.

    Register for the New to UBC Connections Program - UBC Vancouver

    The New to UBC Connections Program is open to faculty and staff in Vancouver in their first year of employment who wish to meet people from outside their faculty or department.The program was piloted successfully in November 2023 and has received a positive response from new faculty and staff.Participants will be matched in groups of three-four and will meet every four to eight weeks to participate in activities or events as a group, based on shared areas of interest.

    UBC’s amended Conflict of Interest Policy (SC3)

    On March 27, the Board of Governors approved amendments to UBC’s Conflict of Interest (COI) Policy (SC3) and its associated Procedures, effective as of April 2. The policy was amended to fully reflect the annual COI reporting requirements for UBC staff members, as well as address various best practices that have emerged since the last revision.A copy of the approved Conflict of Interest Policy and its associated Procedures is available on the University Counsel website.
