Three UBC researchers awarded 2025 Killam Prizes and Dorothy Killam Fellowship

The National Killam Program has announced the winners of the 2025 Killam Prizes and Dorothy Killam Fellowships, recognizing 13 researchers across Canada for their research excellence. The winners include UBC researchers Drs. Marco Marra and Peter Zandstra, who have been awarded a Killam Prize, and Dr. Mark Schmidt, who has been awarded a Dorothy Killam Fellowship.

The Killam Prizes are awarded to active Canadian scholars who have distinguished themselves through sustained research excellence, making a significant impact in their respective fields of engineering, health sciences, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences. 

The Dorothy Killam Fellowships support scholars of exceptional ability by granting them time to pursue research projects of broad significance and widespread interest within the disciplines of the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, health sciences, engineering or studies linking any of these disciplines.

    Announcing the recipients of UBC's 2024 Faculty Research Awards

    This year, 25 faculty members have been named as recipients of the university's Faculty Research Awards.This award recognizes the research excellence and scholarly achievements of faculty from across all disciplines, ranging from the applied sciences and medicine to the social sciences and humanities.     Submit an application to the Healthy Workplace Initiatives Fund Program

    The Healthy Workplace Initiatives Fund Program is an annual fund of up to $3,000 available to UBC departments and units to support grassroots activities that promote wellbeing in the workplace.The program provides start-up funds and support for health-related, sustainable initiatives. You can apply for funding for programs such as mental health training; healthy eating and nutrition; art initiatives; community gardens; team challenges; and fitness classes, to name a few.The deadline to apply for funding is Apr. 7
