A message from Benoit-Antoine Bacon, President and Vice-Chancellor

It gives me great pleasure to welcome everyone back to our beautiful campuses for the 2024/25 academic year. I hope you like September as much as I do; there is always something special in the air as we get back to class and welcome new students, faculty and staff into our community.

Its been incredible to discover UBC this past year. We are one the most dynamic universities in the world thanks to the talent and dedication of our students, faculty and staff, and we still have room to grow in impact and reputation. As members of the UBC community, we all play a role in the university’s pursuit of excellence in learning, teaching and research – thank you for everything you do!

    UBCO study finds experiential learning enhances therapeutic outcomes

    Therapists report that their personal experience with psychedelics helps them build stronger connections with patients and a heightened sense of competence in delivering ketamine-assisted therapy (KAT), according to a new study from UBC Okanagan.The research, led by Dr. Elena Argento, Tashia Petker and Dr. Zach Walsh from UBCO’s Department of Psychology in the Irving K. Barber Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, found that first-hand experience could enhance therapeutic outcomes and improve patient safety.

    Announcing the 2025/26 Grants for Catalyzing Research Clusters Competition

    We are pleased to announce the 2025/26 Grants for Catalyzing Research Clusters (GCRC) Competition.The competition is open to new and returning clusters of research excellence in all disciplines at UBC Vancouver. Applicants may select a budget term of one or two years. Cluster leads must submit a notice of intent by November 1, 2024. Full applications are due January 8, 2025.
