SoTL Seed Program open for proposals
The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Seed Program helps you explore and understand the impact of pedagogical choices by providing graduate research specialists, collegial collaborations, and complementary project funding.Previously, the SoTL Seed Program was only open to faculty members at UBC Vancouver. This year, the program has been expanded to include all faculty and staff at UBC Vancouver and UBC Okanagan. Applications are open until Nov. 20.

Participate in UBC's Remembrance Day ceremony on Nov. 11
2023 marks the 73rd year that UBC will host a Remembrance Day ceremony to honour and remember all those who served in times of war, military conflict and peace. The university community is invited to join the event at the Vancouver campus War Memorial Gym on Nov. 11. In addition, several commemorative ceremonies and events will take place across Canada to mark Veterans' Week. UBC Okanagan faculty and staff are encouraged to attend a ceremony in their local community.

Apply to the Developing Leaders Program by Nov. 24
The Developing Leaders Program – which has evolved from the Managing at UBC Program – is now taking applications from eligible managers.The program is aimed at equipping early-career managers in Vancouver and Okanagan campuses with the skills and knowledge required to lead with more confidence and effectiveness.The deadline for applications is noon on Nov. 24 and the program will begin on Jan. 25, 2024.

Low-income countries could lose 30% of nutrients like protein and omega-3 from seafood due to climate change
The nutrients available from seafood could drop by 30 per cent for low-income countries by the end of the century due to climate change, suggests new UBC research.That’s in a high carbon emissions and low mitigation scenario, according to the study published today in Nature Climate Change. This could be reduced to a roughly 10 per cent decline if the world were to meet the Paris Agreement targets of limiting global warming to 1.5 to 2 degrees Celsius – which recent reports have shown we’re not on track to achieve.
