Help shape UBC's first institution-wide digital strategy

31 January, 2022

A message from Jennifer Burns, Associate Vice-President, Information Technology and Chief Information Officer

As one of the world's leading educational institutions, UBC has demonstrated leadership in the creation and application of digital innovation to drive research, teaching and learning, and operational excellence. Some recent examples are the university-wide implementation of Workday and the rapid pivot to remote teaching and work due to COVID-19. We now have an opportunity to assess how technology can enable and shape the future of research, teaching, learning and work practices at the university.

Digital UBC is our first institution-wide digital strategy that will engage students, faculty and staff to understand their needs and priorities, so that we can together articulate a digital vision for the university.  It aligns with the university's strategic plan, Shaping UBC's Next Century. The UBC community is invited to join the conversation. Your ideas and input will be combined with voices from across the campus community to contribute to the development of UBC’s digital strategy.

On behalf of my co-leads in research, teaching and learning, respectively (Rachel Fernandez, Associate Vice-President, Research and Innovation; Simon Bates, Associate Provost, Teaching and Learning; Brad Wuetherick, Associate Provost, Academic Programs, Teaching and Learning, UBC Okanagan), we want to hear your experiences and aspirations for UBC’s digital future and potential opportunities to enhance and support our collective access, equity, connections, and collaboration.

You can get involved in a number of ways between now and May:

  • Participate in digital dialogues, townhalls and workshops, and discuss your views with leaders.
  • Share your ideas and aspirations for UBC’s digital future by registering for a focus group discussion.
  • Participate in the Digital UBC Survey to share your experiences of using technology at UBC and perspectives on future digital priorities.
