I am writing to let you know that Marcia Buchholz, Vice-President, Human Resources, will be leaving UBC to take up a new opportunity as Vice-President, People and Culture at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary, Alberta. Marcia’s last day at UBC will be March 31, 2024 and interim leadership of the HR portfolio will be announced shortly.
Marcia has worked for UBC for five years, with the last four years in the role of Vice-President, Human Resources. During her time at UBC, she has guided the university through the Workday HR implementation and continued optimization. She also led the creation of UBC’s approach to remote and hybrid work throughout the pandemic.
Marcia led the development of critical HR programs in support of UBC faculty and staff, including the creation of senior leadership development programs, leading the development of performance enablement programs, and evolving the succession management practice. I have greatly valued her insights and collegiality around the Executive table, her leadership at UBC and contributions to the post-secondary sector as a whole.
Please join me in wishing Marcia all the best in the next phase of her career.
Benoit-Antoine Bacon
President and Vice-Chancellor
