Search for a new Dean, Faculty of Medicine, and Vice-President, Health

We are pleased to announce that UBC has embarked on a search for a new Dean, Faculty of Medicine, and Vice-President, Health. The current Dean and Vice-President, Dr. Dermot Kelleher, has served in the role since 2015, with his second term ending in summer 2025.

Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President, Academic, and with reporting lines to the President, this role provides strategic and academic leadership across the Faculty and the university, driving excellence in education, research, and clinical service. The Dean and Vice-President will foster a collaborative environment, ensuring that UBC and the Faculty of Medicine continue to enhance our reputation for innovation, interdisciplinary research, and commitment to improving the health of individuals and communities locally, nationally, and globally. 

In accordance with Board Policies AP5 and AP12, an advisory committee has been established to support the search process. The committee consists of:

  • Sandy Hilton, UBC Board of Governors
  • Shanda Jordan Gaetz, Managing Director, Faculty of Medicine
  • Faisal Khosa, Associate Professor, Department of Radiology
  • Anjana Rajendran, graduate student
  • Manuela Reekie, UBC Okanagan Senate
  • Eugenia Socías, Associate Professor, Department of Medicine
  • Victoria Wood, Managing Director, UBC Health
