Updates to legislative sick leave for employees in BC

2 May, 2022

Earlier this year, the BC government implemented five days of mandatory paid sick leave for all workers in BC. See the announcement here.

Based on the original legislation, some employees at UBC were not eligible for paid sick leave.

Effective May 1, the BC government has amended the application of paid sick leave so that it applies to all employees across the province, irrespective of any entitlement that may exist in a collective agreement.
