Dr. Ananya Mukherjee Reed appointed Vice-Chancellor of Shiv Nadar University, Delhi NCR

It is with mixed emotions that we wish to announce that Dr. Ananya Mukherjee Reed, Provost and Vice-President, Academic, UBC Okanagan has been appointed as Vice-Chancellor of Shiv Nadar University, situated in India’s National Capital Region (NCR) near New Delhi. This is a very exciting opportunity for Dr. Mukherjee Reed, who will assume her new responsibilities in late January 2022.

Dr. Mukherjee Reed joined UBC Okanagan in November 2018 and has provided stellar leadership to the campus in advancing its academic mission. In 2020, she was appointed as one of the co-executive leads for anti-racism initiatives at UBC and has been central to working with others in advancing this important commitment. Other key areas of Dr. Mukherjee Reed’s involvement include the National Dialogues and Action for Inclusive Higher Education and Communities and as a member of the drafting sub-committee for the Scarborough Charter on Anti-Black Racism and Black Inclusion in Canadian Higher Education.

During her time at UBC, Dr. Mukherjee Reed’s commitment to excellence in teaching, learning and research, and to creating impactful student experiences, has been steadfast and remarkable. Her dedication especially to the principles of inclusion, respect and creating space for underrepresented voices will leave a lasting and welcome mark on UBC for years to come. We would like to thank her for her dedication and leadership, and express warm wishes for success in her new role. This is a tremendous opportunity for Dr. Mukherjee Reed and she will be missed.

Dr. Mukherjee Reed will be stepping down from her role as Provost and Vice-President, Academic, UBC Okanagan on January 28, 2022. Details regarding a Provost and Vice-President, Academic pro tem for UBC Okanagan will be shared in the coming weeks. In the meantime, please join us in congratulating Dr. Mukherjee Reed and wishing her well in her new role.
