UBC Vancouver - gas restriction extended to December 14
This message was sent to executive, deans and other senior academic leaders, academic heads, directors and managers, and senior professional leaders in Vancouver.
November 30, 2021
Please note: This Bulletin was originally issued on November 22 to inform faculty and staff about a restriction on the purchase of fuel, as a result of the recent floods. The fuel restriction has now been extended until December 14. The Bulletin has been revised to reflect this update.
As you know, the BC Provincial Government has introduced a restriction on fuel, as a result of the impact of the recent floods. Unless operating an essential vehicle, residents are limited to purchasing 30 litres of fuel per trip to the gas station in these areas:
- Lower Mainland (Vancouver to Hope)
- Sea to Sky (Squamish to Pemberton)
- Sunshine Coast
- Gulf Islands
- Vancouver Island
The restriction is currently in place until December 14.
In light of this restriction, and recognizing the impact of the recent floods and landslides within the province, we are encouraging managers and supervisors to be flexible in allowing remote work, where operational requirements permit. We also recommend that this approach is maintained for the duration of the fuel restriction, in order to support our community and help ease any pressure on fuel supplies within the Lower Mainland.
If you have further questions, please contact your HR Advisor. Thank you for your support in helping ease the pressure at this time.
