Consideration of extending the appointment of the Principal and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, UBC Okanagan
This message was sent to executive, deans and other senior academic leaders, academic heads, directors and managers, and senior professional leaders in Vancouver and the Okanagan.

The term of Dr. Lesley Cormack, Principal and Deputy Vice-Chancellor of UBC Okanagan, is coming to an end in June 2025.
Dr. Cormack has indicated her willingness to be considered for an appointment extension. In accordance with Board policy AP6, an advisory committee has been convened to review her performance and make a recommendation to the UBC Board of Governors.
The advisory committee membership is as follows:
- Benoit-Antoine Bacon, Chair of the committee
- Byron Thom, UBC Board of Governors
- Jacqueline Denison, UBC Okanagan Senate
- Robert Campbell, UBC Okanagan Senate
- Rob Einarson, Associate Vice-President, Finance & Operations, UBC Okanagan
- Danial Asif, President, Students’ Union Okanagan
- Julie Wagemakers, non-voting
The Principal and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) reports to the President and provides leadership to the Okanagan campus towards accomplishing the vision, commitments, goals, and actions set out in the university’s strategic plan.
As an integral member of the university’s senior leadership team, the DVC supports the Board of Governors in exercising their responsibilities, and works collaboratively with leadership and management across the university, as well as with key external stakeholders, to enhance the student experience, learning and research on the Okanagan campus.
The advisory committee is entering into a consultative process to inform its evaluation of Dr. Cormack’s performance in relation to the duties and responsibilities attached to her portfolio, as outlined in the original job description which can be found here.
