Join UBC's ShakeOut drill on Oct. 20

17 October, 2022

We all play a role in protecting ourselves and those around us, and making our campus safe. Participate in the annual ShakeOut drill on Oct. 20, and learn more about the risks in our community and what UBC is doing to plan ahead.

The Great BC Shakeout is an annual province-wide earthquake drill for everyone to practice how to protect themselves and be better prepared in the event of an earthquake.

UBC offers a number of tools to help ensure you receive alerts in urgent situations:

  • UBC Alert: The university's mass notification system that sends alerts in situations that pose an immediate safety or security risk to the community. Update your contact information on Workday so that you are registered to receive notifications.
  • UBC Safe Vancouver app: A free mobile safety app for the UBC Vancouver campus that offers access to campus safety resources and sends alerts and notifications.
  • UBC Safe app: A free multi-function mobile safety app for the UBC Okanagan campus that offers direct access to safety resources and security tools.
