UBC Vancouver — call for proposals for teaching-related funding opportunities

We are pleased to invite proposals for a number of teaching-related funding opportunities this fall, in support of advancing UBC’s academic mission. Your support in encouraging UBC Vancouver faculty, staff and students to apply for these opportunities would be greatly appreciated. More information about the application details, deadlines and adjudication criteria can be found on the respective websites below.
Small Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund (TLEF) Innovation projects
Small TLEF Innovation projects support grassroots experimentation with pedagogical approaches to enhance learning. UBC Vancouver faculty, staff and students can apply for grants up to $50,000. The deadline is 3pm on November 17, 2022. Find out more
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Fellows Program
As part of the 2023 Small TLEF funding round, a new UDL Fellows program will be launched in the spring of 2023. This cohort-based program will support UBC Vancouver faculty and staff to provide more options and flexibility for learners through the design of inclusive resources, tools, and course delivery. Nominations will be made by the Associate Deans Academic in January 2023. Learn more
Open Educational Resources (OER) Fund
The OER Fund supports affordable and inclusive access to learning materials through the adoption and integration of open educational resources. Grants may be:
- OER Implementation Grants up to $25,000 to incorporate OERs as required materials into UBC Vancouver credit courses. Applications will be accepted until 3pm on November 24, 2022. Learn more
- OER Rapid Innovation Grants up to $2,000; applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL)
Two types of SoTL support are available to faculty members:
- The SoTL Seed Program: Provides graduate research specialists, collegial collaborations and complementary funding for projects that explore the impact of their pedagogical choices. The call for applications opens October 17, 2022, and the deadline is December 12, 2022. Learn more
- The SoTL Dissemination Fund: May be used for expenses related to presenting or publishing SoTL work. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Learn more
Students as Partners (SaP) fund
The SaP fund offers grants up to $7,100 per project to encourage faculty and students to work together to redesign a UBC Vancouver undergraduate course. The next call for proposals will open February 1, 2023. Dissemination funding is also available to present SaP work. Find out more
