Announcing the appointment of new Dean, Faculty of Arts

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Clare Haru Crowston has been appointed as the new Dean of the Faculty of Arts for a five-year term commencing no later than January 1, 2023. Dr. Crowston is a professor of History at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she currently serves as the Associate Dean for the Humanities and Interdisciplinary Programs in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

The University of British Columbia (UBC) Board of Governors has approved UBC’s 2022/2023 budget. The new budget sets spending priorities for the year ahead to advance the university’s key strategic priorities while supporting students, faculty, and staff in their collective pursuit of excellence in learning, teaching, and research.

Dr. Shandin Pete, assistant professor of teaching in UBC’s department of earth, ocean and atmospheric sciences, investigated a story that may have helped his Seliš ancestors judge when to safely cross rivers along the buffalo trail. Update on UBC’s budget for the 2022/23 fiscal year

This week, the proposed UBC budget for 2022/23 was presented to the Board of Governors’ Finance Committee for review, in advance of consideration for approval by the full Board of Governors on March 31, 2022.
