UBC Today launches new ‘Teaching in focus’ series

Meet UBC’s teaching faculty and learn more about what they bring to the classroom (and beyond)

‘Teaching in focus’ is a new feature highlighting our talented teaching faculty, their unique teaching style, and their incredible work at UBC.

Last year, we asked our teaching faculty to tell us who among them were offering innovative learning experiences, environments, and/or introducing new ways of overcoming barriers in their classes. As we received such an enthusiastic response from our faculty members, coupled with the success of the stories we featured on UBC Today, we realized the need to create a new platform to showcase the incredible educators in our community on a regular basis.

Learn more about our first faculty member, Sally Stewart who believes in the power of students’ personal health as critical in setting a foundation for their academic success.

    Recognizing Teaching Excellence at UBC Okanagan

    The recipients of UBC Okanagan’s Killam Teaching Prize and the Provost’s Award for Teaching Excellence and Innovation have been announced.They are exemplary role models who make significant impacts on the culture of teaching and learning on the Okanagan campus.Winner of the Killam Teaching Prize is Dr. Bowen Hui, Associate Professor of Teaching, Irving K.     Meet the 2025 recipients of UBC’s Community-University Engagement Support Fund

    UBC Community Engagement, in collaboration with the Office of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation, is proud to announce the 2024-25 recipients of the Community-University Engagement Support (CUES) Fund.This year, a total of $727,014 was awarded to 30 outstanding projects, with grants of up to $25,000 each. These partnerships—spanning urban, rural, and Indigenous communities across the province—are designed to support community-led initiatives while advancing collaborative research, teaching, and learning.
