UBC engages Indigenous students, faculty and staff on Citizenship Declaration

November 4, 2025

In alignment with its Indigenous Strategic Plan (ISP) and the goal of becoming a leading voice in implementing Indigenous peoples’ human rights, UBC is developing a framework for opportunities designated for Indigenous people. We encourage Indigenous students, faculty, and staff to participate in this initiative.

To support this effort, several engagement sessions regarding verification of Indigenous citizenship and membership will be held throughout 2025 and 2026 in a variety of formats. These sessions will consider and reflect the unique and complex contexts of both the Vancouver and Okanagan campuses, as well as UBC’s relationships with the xʷməθkʷəy̓ əm (Musqueam) and Syilx peoples, and Indigenous communities more broadly.

For more information on how to get involved, read the UBC Bulletin issued to leaders and visit the Indigenous Strategic Plan website.
