Nominations open for UBC Okanagan Teaching Awards

Help recognize outstanding colleagues who significantly impact teaching and learning at UBC Okanagan. Nominations are now open for 2025/26 UBC Okanagan teaching awards.

Provost’s Award for Teaching Excellence and Innovation

This award recognizes up to two awards for faculty members with continuing appointments and one award for instructors holding a full or part time limited-term appointment. Nominations for this award are accepted from faculty members, deans, department heads, staff, students, and alumni.

Killam Teaching Prize

UBC Okanagan awards up to one Killam Teaching Prize each year to a faculty member with a continuing appointment who has distinguished themselves as an exemplary teacher with a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and innovation throughout their career. Department heads or equivalents are invited to submit nominations for this award.

The deadline to nominate teaching faculty members is November 7.

    UBC delegation of 14 participating in COP30

    A delegation of 14 students, staff, and faculty is participating in-person and virtually at the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP30) in Belém, Brazil, from November 10 to 21. This event brings together countries, civil society, companies and people on the frontline of climate change to accelerate action. UBC holds “Official Observer” status and is allocated a set number of ‘badges’ that provide access to the negotiations and events.

    In alignment with its Indigenous Strategic Plan (ISP) and the goal of becoming a leading voice in implementing Indigenous peoples’ human rights, UBC is developing a framework for opportunities designated for Indigenous people. We encourage Indigenous students, faculty, and staff to participate in this initiative.

    Participate in UBC's Remembrance Day ceremony

    Since the opening of the War Memorial Gym in 1951, The University of British Columbia has held a ceremony commemorating November 11. This year, 2025 will mark seventy-five years that The University of British Columbia has hosted a Remembrance Day ceremony. This special ceremony is an opportunity for faculty, staff, students and members of the on and off-campus community to honour and remember all those who served in times of war, military conflict and peace.
