    Search for a Deputy Provost at UBC Vancouver

    The Deputy Provost will be responsible for a strategic and impactful portfolio. This is a new title for an existing role, elevating the current Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Academic Affairs, portfolio to allow for more responsibility and delegation by the Provost.Duties will include oversight of the recruitment, appointment, and extension of senior academic and non-academic leadership roles and the approval of appointments for department heads and associate deans.

    Call for nominations for OER Excellence and Impact Awards; West Coast Teaching Excellence Award

    We are pleased to announce the inaugural call for nominations for the Open Education Resources (OER) Excellence and Impact Awards, as well as a call for nominations for the 2024 West Coast Teaching Excellence Awards. These awards are open to faculty members at both campuses.OER Excellence and Impact AwardsThe OER Excellence and Impact Awards recognize outstanding work done by faculty who materially advance the use and impact of open educational resources in credit courses at UBC.

    Announcing the 2024/25 Grants for Catalyzing Research Clusters Competition

    We are pleased to announce the 2024/25 Grants for Catalyzing Research Clusters (GCRC) Competition. The competition is open to new and returning clusters of research excellence in all disciplines on the Vancouver campus. Applicants may select a budget term of one or two years. Cluster leads must submit a notice of intent by November 1, 2023.

    Call for proposals for Open Educational Resource Grants

    Faculty and staff at UBC Vancouver are invited to submit proposals for grants that support the use of open educational resources (OER) in UBC credit courses. OER are teaching and learning materials that are openly licensed to permit free access as well as adaptation and sharing. Since 2019, UBC has provided over $825,000 in OER grant funding for 79 projects across nine Faculties. There are two grant pathways:OER Affordability Grants

    Associate Vice-President, Health — call for applications

    I am pleased to announce that UBC is embarking on a search for a new Associate Vice-President (AVP), Health on the Vancouver campus.The AVP, Health is a key member of the Vice-President (VP), Health senior management team. The role has responsibility for providing academic leadership and development, administrative management and delivery related to implementing the Strategic Plan of the VP, Health portfolio.

    Leadership changes in the Office of Enterprise Risk and Assurance

    We wish to inform you of some changes within the Office of Enterprise Risk and Assurance (ERA) which will come into effect next month. Jennifer Kain, the Chief Assurance and Risk Officer, will be leaving UBC in September. At that time, Allen Amyotte, who is currently Director, Internal Insurance, will take on the role of Interim Chief Assurance and Risk Officer.
