    Dr. Jenn Jakobi named Chair for Women in Science and Engineering

    Jenn Jakobi has a passion for building equity, diversity and inclusion Dr. Jenn Jakobi is a scientist, a teacher and a mentor. Her work focuses on neuromuscular and exercise physiology with the long-term objective of keeping our aging population healthy and independent.

    Dr. Ananya Mukherjee Reed appointed Vice-Chancellor of Shiv Nadar University, Delhi NCR

    It is with mixed emotions that we wish to announce that Dr. Ananya Mukherjee Reed, Provost and Vice-President, Academic, UBC Okanagan has been appointed as Vice-Chancellor of Shiv Nadar University, situated in India’s National Capital Region (NCR) near New Delhi. This is a very exciting opportunity for Dr. Mukherjee Reed, who will assume her new responsibilities in late January 2022.

    We are pleased to announce that Carly Stanhope has been appointed as Director, Investigations Office, effective December 6, 2021.  Carly has been in the acting Director, Investigations Office position since June 2021.

    Call for volunteers to support UBC Vancouver's graduation ceremony

    Many of you may be aware that UBC’s Fall 2021 graduation ceremony will be held in person at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts on the Vancouver campus from Nov. 23 to Nov. 26. We're so pleased to be able to celebrate this important milestone in person with 3,000 graduates. The ceremony will be planned according to Public Health Orders and guidelines.

    Moura Quayle

    Moura Quayle is UBC’s Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Academic Affairs. She is also a professor and the founding director of UBC’s School of Public Policy and Global Affairs, the former director of the Liu Institute for Global Issues and currently teaches in the Master of Public Policy and Global Affairs program: Leadership for Policy Professionals. In addition to her academic career at UBC Vancouver, Moura acted as Deputy Minister of the B.C. Ministry of Advanced Education, B.C. Commissioner of Pacific Coast Collaborative, Dean of UBC’s Faculty of Land and Food Systems, and Associate VP, Academic Programs at UBC Okanagan. Her book, Designed Leadership, was published in 2017, and more recently, she co-edited a book written by her late husband, David Fushtey, entitled Principled Governance when Everything Matters (2021). Her interests include learning Mandarin, Chinese calligraphy (shufa) and painting in various media.
