Describe what you do at UBC in 10 words or less:
Advance understanding of the nexus between human rights and environment.
Name another staff or faculty member you admire and why
I admire Terre Satterfield (IRES) for her extraordinary combination of wisdom, insight, generosity and compassion. So fortunate to have Terre first as my doctoral supervisor and now as my colleague!
What trait do you most admire in others?
Kindness. Imagine a world in which everyone was kind to everyone else, and kind towards our non-human living relations as well. That's the world I want to live in!
What's one personal experience you would encourage others to do/try?
Enjoy the natural wonders of British Columbia, such as swimming on your back in the ocean on a clear night in August with starry skies above and bioluminescence below. Or wander through an alpine meadow at the peak of flower season. Or float at the speed of a river, just watching the birds and bugs and if you're lucky, maybe a bear. This province is so blessed with natural beauty!
