Describe what you do at UBC in 10 words or less:
Solve problems, find longer-term solutions, make Administrators' lives better.
What is the best thing about your work/role at UBC?
My answer has always been the people I'm surrounded by. While I love my job for many reasons, what has kept me at UBC (and brought me back after a 3 year break) is the wonderful people I work with, from my amazing teammates to the incredible Administrators group I'm a part of and support, and the succession of great managers who have helped me become a better person over all these years.
What do you think is the greatest question ever asked?
"Can I help?" When said – it is a gift, a connection, an expression of caring, an opportunity to make real change in someone's life and thereby the world. When heard – it is a gift, a connection, a recognition and being seen, an offer of care and support, a hug in just three words.
What's one personal experience you would encourage others to do/try?
Twice I've done a different kind of New Year's resolution and both years I stuck to it for the whole year! I abandoned the idea of what I 'should' do and embraced things I wanted more of in life. The first year was "I will go to one live event per month" and saw my first opera, a parade, Evil Dead the Musical (splash zone) and more; the second year was make one new recipe a month (mini lasagnas!).
