March 3, 2025

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Maggie Ivanova as UBC’s new Chief Enterprise Risk and Assurance Officer, effective April 7. This role reports to both the Vice-President, Finance and Operations, as part of the portfolio's Senior Leadership Team, and the Audit Committee of the Board

In her new role, Maggie will provide strategic leadership to UBC’s Internal Assurance and Enterprise Risk Management functions, ensuring they align with the university’s strategic goals and evolving needs.

Maggie has a proven track record in building and leading robust enterprise risk management and internal assurance programs. Known for her strategic thinking, deep business acumen, and ability to create practical solutions to complex organizational challenges, she is an empathetic and influential leader who inspires teams through her vision and commitment to making a difference.

With nearly two decades of leadership in governance, enterprise risk management, and internal audit, Maggie provides innovative, value-based advice to senior leaders across diverse sectors. Most recently, Maggie served as AVP Internal Audit, GRC Advisory at Peoples Group, where she established and led the advisory function and enhanced governance, risk, and control practices. Prior to that, she successfully built and implemented the Enterprise Risk Management function at the British Columbia Institute of Technology.

I would like to thank Allen Amyotte for serving as Acting Chief Enterprise Risk and Assurance Officer since September 2023. His leadership and dedication have been instrumental during this transition period. I am pleased that Allen will be returning to his role of Director, Internal Assurance for the university.

Please join me in welcoming Maggie to UBC. We look forward to her leadership in strengthening the university’s Enterprise Risk Management and Internal Assurance functions, as well as her commitment to continuous learning and fostering a collaborative, high-impact team culture.
