Describe what you do at UBC in 10 words or less:
Provide instruction and consultations on open education and scholarly publishing.
What is the best thing about your work/role at UBC?
Working with faculty and students to understand the value of open practices, including releasing scholarly content into the open and open educational pedagogy in the classroom. My role provides me the opportunity to work collaboratively on developing policies and procedures with students, faculty, and support units to see the university progress toward barrier free access to information resources.
What trait do you most admire in others?
The willingness to think outside of the box, try new things, and work together to see them in action. I truly value when people are willing to put time into experimentation, even if there is a high possibility for failure. We learn through the process and through the failures. A willingness to "just do it" and see what happens is exciting to me and I value that mindset.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
For the past two years I have been taking courses and increasing my skills in sketching, using a variety of medium, and watercolour.
