UBC Vancouver – Possible impacts of Metro Vancouver transit strike
Coast Mountain Bus Company transit supervisors have begun strike action with a ban on working overtime, which is resulting in some bus delays and cancellations. Although strike action has commenced, the university is operating as normal. Classes are proceeding and faculty and staff are expected to attend work.

Advance your research while supporting student workplace learning
UBC Vancouver and UBC Okanagan faculty members can receive $6,000 in wage subsidies to hire Canadian undergraduate students full time during summer 2024, fall 2024 or winter 2025 by submitting a proposal through the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Undergraduate Student Research Awards program.

Dr. Michael Hunt appointed Dean pro tem, Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
Dr. Michael Anthony Hunt has been appointed Dean pro tem of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, effective January 1, 2024.He is currently Senior Associate Dean, Policy and Programs in the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, a role he has held since 2021. He has led a number of new initiatives that have enhanced collaboration and engagement between the Faculty and graduate programs, as well as professional development for graduate program administrators across campus.

UBC Vancouver – Call for proposals for the summer 2024 Work Learn program
If you are a faculty or staff member at UBC Vancouver, submit a proposal to hire temporary student employees through the Work Learn program summer session (May 1 - August 31, 2024). The Work Learn program funds approximately 3,500 part-time hourly appointments each year, subsidizing meaningful work experiences for current UBC Vancouver students.
