New report shows improving trends for LGBTQ youth in BC
According to a report by UBC’s Stigma and Resilience Among Vulnerable Youth Centre and the McCreary Centre Society, most of BC's LGBTQ youth experience safer environments and fewer health risks than previous generations, but more work is required to address the gaps that remain. The report used data from the B.C. Adolescent Health Survey from 2008, 2013 and 2018, each of which sampled around 30,000 students in grades 8-12 across the province.

Call for volunteers to support UBC Vancouver's Spring graduation ceremony
This spring, UBC Vancouver will be celebrating the achievements of nearly 10,000 students over 28 ceremonies on May 25, 26, 27, 30, 31, June 1 and 2. In total, over 25,000 people participate in the spring graduation ceremonies: from graduating students, faculty members, dignitaries and guests.

Many of you may be aware that Staff & Faculty Sports Week was held virtually last year. We are so pleased that the Staff & Faculty Sports Day is set to return to being held in-person at UBC Vancouver and UBC Okanagan this year, on May 6. Whether you want to participate as an office, department, group of colleagues or an individual, there are a variety of challenges and activities to choose from. UBC research says bad reviews can be good for business
There is a general opinion that negative online reviews and poor ratings can be detrimental for brands. However, a new UBC study shows that negative online comments have little effect in cases where brand relationships are strong and consumers personally identify with a brand’s products. In some instances, they found negative reviews can actually have positive effects for brands.
