Complete the Employment Equity Survey by Oct. 31

You are invited to complete the latest version of the Employment Equity Survey. This confidential online survey helps inform the university's understanding of the demographic composition of faculty and staff and efforts to ensure equity and fairness in employment practices. New this year, the survey includes an additional response option among disaggregated ethno-racial population groups and an additional question on disability which supports UBC's compliance under the Federal Contractor's Program.

Consideration of extending the appointment of the Principal and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, UBC Okanagan

The term of Dr. Lesley Cormack, Principal and Deputy Vice-Chancellor of UBC Okanagan, is coming to an end in June 2025. Dr. Cormack has indicated her willingness to be considered for an appointment extension. In accordance with Board policy AP6, an advisory committee has been convened to review her performance and make a recommendation to the UBC Board of Governors.The advisory committee membership is as follows:

UBCO study finds experiential learning enhances therapeutic outcomes

Therapists report that their personal experience with psychedelics helps them build stronger connections with patients and a heightened sense of competence in delivering ketamine-assisted therapy (KAT), according to a new study from UBC Okanagan.The research, led by Dr. Elena Argento, Tashia Petker and Dr. Zach Walsh from UBCO’s Department of Psychology in the Irving K. Barber Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, found that first-hand experience could enhance therapeutic outcomes and improve patient safety.

Announcing the 2025/26 Grants for Catalyzing Research Clusters Competition

We are pleased to announce the 2025/26 Grants for Catalyzing Research Clusters (GCRC) Competition.The competition is open to new and returning clusters of research excellence in all disciplines at UBC Vancouver. Applicants may select a budget term of one or two years. Cluster leads must submit a notice of intent by November 1, 2024. Full applications are due January 8, 2025.
